This April and May, I am thrilled to embark on a special journey to celebrate the release of my new poetry collection, The Nature of It All, which will be available on Earth Day, April 22, 2025. To mark this occasion, I will be hosting and attending a series of exciting events across local businesses and locations in Ventura County and L.A. County.
Events and Community Engagement
Each of my book tour events will involve a book signing and an open mic night revolving around the theme of nature—a concept that has deeply inspired my work, and one that I believe connects us all. The stage will be open to anyone who wishes to share their creative work, whether it’s poetry, monologues, or any form of artistic expression that celebrates the beauty and power of the natural world.
Here are the local open mic events you can either participate in or come to enjoy
Tarantula Hill Brewing Co.: Tuesday, April 22, 2025, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., 244 E Thousand Oaks Blvd, Thousand Oaks, CA
The Aftermath Bar: Wednesday, May 7, 2025, 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., 14537 Ventura Blvd., Sherman Oaks, CA
Smitten Bookstore: Saturday, May 17, 2025, 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., 365 E. Main Street, Ventura, CA
Each of these events will be a wonderful opportunity to not only hear poetry but also to support local businesses. I invite local poets and creatives to step up, share their work, and be a part of this celebration of nature and community. Whether you’re a seasoned poet or a first-timer, these events will be a safe, welcoming space to share your voice.
If you want to get on stage and share your nature-themed work, fill out this form and Ryanna will be in touch.
A Fundraising Opportunity for Our National Parks
In addition to celebrating the release of my poetry collection, I am also working to raise funds for a cause that is close to my heart: the National Park Foundation. My connection to nature, particularly the parks that have inspired me, runs deep—both creatively and personally. With that in mind, I am dedicating $1 for every book sold to support the National Park Foundation’s mission to preserve the parks we hold dear.
My goal is to raise $500 for the National Park Foundation, helping to ensure that future generations can experience the beauty and serenity that I’ve found in our national parks.
You can also make a difference by donating directly. I’ll have tip jars at each event where people can contribute whatever they feel inspired to give. Every dollar helps us protect and conserve these incredible natural spaces.
Additional Opportunities to Connect
Along with my official book tour events, I will have a booth at two fantastic upcoming events that support mental health and the love of books:
Zone of Wellness: A mental health event that beautifully ties in with the theme of nature, since time spent outdoors has been shown to support mental well-being.
When and Where: Saturday, May 3, 2025, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., Conejo Creek North Park, Thousand Oaks, CA.
Santa Clarita Valley Book Festival – A celebration of the literary arts aiming to bring families and the local community back to reading, and I will be highlighting my new collection and connecting with readers at my booth.
When and Where: Saturday, May 10, 2025, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Dr. Dianne G. Van Hook University Center Lobby, 26455 Rockwell Canyon Road, Santa Clarita, CA.
While these events are not part of my official tour, they offer another chance to get involved, donate, and support great causes. During these events, I will uphold my own personal fundraiser: $1.00 per book of mine sold will go to the National Park Foundation.
