If you’re feeling stuck right now, my heart goes out to you. I can deeply understand being in that place where you’re thinking: I want to level up. I know I’m meant for more. I can see the mountain…but how do I even begin climbing it?
If that’s where you are, you’re not behind. You’re not broken. You’re not lost. And you’re definitely not the only one who feels that way. In fact, this is exactly where most self-transformation journeys begin.
Step One: Stop Staring at the Peak
When we want to change our lives, our instinct is to look all the way up at the future version of ourselves. The healed version. The confident version. The fully aligned version.
While that vision is powerful, it can also feel completely overwhelming. So here’s the shift that changes everything: Stop looking up at the peak. Start looking down at your feet.
Because transformation doesn’t happen in one giant leap. It happens one step at a time. Not 10,000 steps today. Just ONE honest step right now.
Step Two: Identify (or Discover) Your Next Step
If you already know what your next step is—beautiful. Start there.
And if you don’t know yet? That is completely okay, too. This is where curiosity becomes your greatest tool.
When I was in my own season of transformation, some of the things that helped me most were:
- daily journaling
- therapy
- solo time in nature
- reading personal growth books
- reading poetry
- pursuing education in something I love
But you don’t have to follow my exact path. Your next step might look like taking a dance class, trying pottery, or simply creating quiet space to reflect. No matter what you choose, transformation begins the moment you start taking action.
Step Three: Create Space to Hear Yourself
One of the most powerful (and accessible) tools I recommend is simple:
15 minutes of daily journaling. Set a timer. Put your pen to paper. And don’t stop writing until the timer ends.
This isn’t about sounding wise or polished. This is what I call an emotional and mental release practice. You are simply letting everything out: the noise, the stress, the questions, the hopes, the fears.
When we release what’s swirling inside, we create space to actually hear ourselves again. And clarity often follows much faster than we expect.
Step Four: Take Action
If it’s not journaling, it must be something else. Because you can’t imagine that new version of you into existence. You have to meet them through the work.
That is how you become the version of yourself you keep envisioning. That is how you look in the mirror one day and genuinely think: I love who I’m becoming. I’m proud of myself. I trust myself now.
And if you don’t yet know how to do that work, guidance can make the path clearer, gentler, and often much faster.
Step Five: Get Support If You’re Ready
There is absolutely nothing wrong with walking your path independently. But I’ll share something honestly: My journey would have been much shorter—and much less confusing—if I had guidance earlier on.
That’s one of the reasons I now offer one-on-one self-development coaching through journaling.
When we work together, we:
- identify the areas you most want to grow
- create personalized journaling prompts for your season
- build gentle, aligned next steps
- and support you as you continue climbing your mountain
You don’t have to guess your way forward alone, trailblazing. You can work with someone who says, “Hey, I’ve climbed this mountain and I can help you get to the top.”
If You’re Not Ready for Coaching Yet
That’s okay too. What matters most is that you begin.
You might start with:
- one of my books (each created for different life seasons)
- a workshop
- or simply beginning the 15-minute journaling practice above
And, if you take nothing else from this post, take this: You do not have to climb the whole mountain today. You only have to take the next step that’s in front of you.
And if you don’t know what that step is yet…Start small.
Stay curious. Keep moving forward gently. Your transformation is already in motion.
With love and pumping blood,
The Heartbeat
